Brisbane hair stylists took the industry by storm at the recent Australian Hair Industry Awards (AHIA) finalist announcements, with Togninis and our new-comer sister salon, Hey Hair, taking out the highest number of finalists announced, including for Master Cutter for Australia and Queensland Hairdresser of the Year.

While these looks may stray a little from what we do on the daily, it's a fundamental part of the Tognini's blood - making sure we're always thinking differently, and bringing as much joy, passion and craft to the industry and our work!
TOGNINI'S + HEY HAIR CUT ABOVE THE REST
On Monday night 19 April Tognini's and Hey Hair' stylists - Louise Graham, Ryan King and Jules Tognini - sat white-knuckled on the edge of their couches - just before hearing their names read out as 2021 AHIA finalists!
Between the three of them, they took out 7 out of 7 entries from our Tognini's/Hey Hair team for the AHIA awards - it's the most number of finalists of any salon team (so we're clearly a little bit stoked)!
AHIA MOVERS AND SHAKERS
The AHIA is our chance to let our "hair down" and get truly outlandish, offbeat and dazzling in our creations.
While it's no simple feat for the stylists who pull these creations together - the blood, sweat, and tears that go into it is all part of our love for this industry.
So big love and congrats to our finalists and wish them all the luck in taking out the top prize as winners in June! (Now to dive into these creations!).
LOUISE - A FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH
She's been with our Tognini's fam for sometime creating jaw-dropping looks, and now Hey Hair Senior Stylist Louise Graham has been recognised for her incredible talents nationally, taking out three nominations, including avant-garde hairdresser of the year!
NEW CREATIVE TALENT
Inspired by the impact of the environment humans are surrounded with, Louise Graham's ‘Creative Force’ is a commentary on society’s thinking, “if it doesn’t impact me, then why would I do anything about it?”
This important collection unsurprisingly scored her a nomination as finalist New Creative Talent!
DOUBLE AWARD WINNING
Louise’s creative philosophies are a force to be reckoned with, creating another piece ‘We are Royale’ that was nominated for Avant Garde of the Year.
It also landed her a spot in the Hot Shot Team finalists - one of four under 30 selected from Australia and NZ.
MASTER CUTTER - JULES DEFINING HIS OWN RULES
It's not hard to see why Jules Tognini (Togninis & Hey Hair) was nominated for Queensland hairdresser of the Year and Master Cutter finalist for 2021.
True to Jules' love of edgy arts and fashion, his collection ‘4 ME’ was all about experimenting with raw, bold, lived-in cut and colour techniques, because as he said, “it’s nice to just cut loose and do whatever the hell you want.”
These no rules, no bosses inspired looks brought in another dazzling nomination for Master Cutter of the year!
You’ll find Jules in the heart of James street at Togninis Salon and Hey Hair salon in Windsor.
RYAN CROSSES THE LINE - LEADING THE STATE
Tognini's Senior Stylist Ryan King also took out finalists for Master Cutter and QLD Hairdresser of the Year for his collection ‘Naughty Crosses’.
This Londoner who now calls Brisbane home created this eye-arresting collection - with strength, sexuality, tension, power and femininity all guiding his works.
You’ll find Ryan alongside Jules in the heart of James street at Togninis Salon.
